From vegan to coffee to pho and crawfish, here’s a few places we’re keeping an eye on: Two are already open, and two are on the way.
Now open
Ethikli
Ethikli (pronounced ethically), Long Beach’s first package-free, vegan grocery store is open now, but keep an eye on their social media for the official grand opening this month.
Offering dried goods, locally made tofu, pickles, ferments, olives, fresh-baked bread, as well as containers should you find yourself shopping package-free and unprepared.
Ethikli is an inspiring and unique addition to Long Beach that, if you’re into food, and the environment, you simply have to check out.
Ethikli is at 352 E. Fourth St. ethikli.com 562-612-3647 Insta: @ethikli

Stereoscope Coffee
The fourth location of Stereoscope coffee has arrived in Belmont Shore. Finally, there’s a cup of coffee in Belmont Shore that’s a destination unto itself.
The trendy coffee shop, with locations in Echo Park, Buena Park and Newport Beach opened in Belmont Shore on Feb. 22. At this point, a knee-high A-frame sign outside its door is all there is to identify the new shop, and owners have yet to do an official grand opening, so grab a cup now, because soon the lines will be out around the corner.
Stereoscope is at 4925 Second St.
Coming soon
Altar Society
Altar Society, a soon-to-be brewpub/restaurant/sports bar/coffeehouse/arts and gathering center is under construction in the three-story former Masonic Hall on Pine Avenue built in 1903.
The building, formerly an events space, will not only be brewing its own beer, it will be making New York-style pizza in open ovens, offering a full bar, roasting and serving its own coffee, offering event and banquet space, and bringing a new vibe to Downtown, according to an article in Long Beach 908 magazine.
Altar Society is at 230 Pine Ave. Insta: @altarsocietybrewingco.
Pho & Crawfish House
Located in a strip mall off of PCH near Seventh Street, between On The Rocks Bar & Grill and Ike’s Love & Sandwiches, Pho & Crawfish is a bit of a mystery, but the name likely says it all.
Nobody has responded to explain what the restaurant will be exactly (aside from the obvious), or when it’s slated to open, but it’s certainly worth keeping an eye out.
Pho & Crawfish House is at 5751 Pacific Coast Highway at Bixby Village Plaza.
Editor’s note: This article was updated to remove incorrect information about Altar Society’s ownership.
