The Long Beach Post is here to help, and this week we are publishing a series of videos ahead of New Year’s Eve on how to make our favorite drinks.

Today, David Sommers, publisher of the Long Beach Post, has chosen a simple glass of bourbon whiskey, along with a TED Talk on the geology and chemistry of branch water.

Sommers’ drink, a nice regret-riddled glass of Publisher’s Delight:

His recipe:

First, find a quality, heavy-bottomed glass. Oh, who are you kidding—find yourself a glass, coffee mug, Solo cup, empty flower pot, or other vessel and fill it with a couple fingers of bourbon. Neat. No ice. No bitters. Just bourbon.

Fine—a splash of water to accompany your shame.

Drink it. Now think about what you’ve done. Not just this drink, but all of it. Every little thing you’ve done.

Think about all of it—just let it all really sink in and consume you.

You’ve got a Publisher’s Delight.
