Long Beach police say that officers have arrested two teenage boys in connection with the shooting death of a 20-year-old man in North Long Beach earlier this month.
The teenagers, whose names were not released because they are juveniles, were taken into custody Thursday for one count each of suspicion of murder and robbery, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Police say that on Jan. 6, Isaiah Saucedo was sitting in on the driver side of his car in the 5500 block of Long Beach Boulevard sometime around 8:32 p.m. when someone shot him multiple times in the upper body.
When officers arrived, they found Saucedo on the ground near his car. Despite efforts by the Long Beach Fire Department, he died at the scene.
Detectives later identified the two teenagers, a 16-year-old and a 15-year-old, as suspects in the case.
The 16-year-old boy was taken into custody in 400 block of East 40th Street, which is near Scherer Park, according to the LBPD. Meanwhile, the 15-year-old was taken into custody in the 1100 block of Tehachapi Drive, which is near Bixby Knolls.
They are currently being held without bail, authorities said, adding that the motive remains under investigation.
Homicide detectives will present the case against the two teens next week to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.
