Long Beach may hear (or feel) the rumblings of military jets flying into the Long Beach Airport this afternoon, according to the LGB.

Three F/A-18 fighter and attack aircraft military jets (hence the F/A classification) are expected to arrive at the airport sometime Friday afternoon, though when exactly is not clear and subject to change. Their arrival is related to the purposes of conducting training operations, according to the airport.

LBG notes the jets are noticeably louder than other aircraft and can be easily heard in the neighborhoods near the airport. Despite the disruption, LGB said the military has generally been a “good neighbor” and will follow procedures that follow noise abatement protocol, such as minimum use of afterburners.

The aircraft are expected to depart on Sunday, Nov. 21.
