LONG BEACH (CNS) – Authorities today released the name of an 82-year-old man who was struck by a car last week while riding a bicycle in Long Beach and died of his injuries two days later.

George Georgoulis of Long Beach was struck about 11:55 a.m. Thursday on Los Coyotes Diagonal north of Stearns Street, according to the coroner’s office and the Long Beach Police Department.

Georgoulis was crossing the northbound side of the road heading east when he was hit by a 2000 Honda Civic in the northbound number one lane. The 19-year-old driver, a Los Angeles resident, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, according to police, who said the motorist was found to have a valid license and was neither impaired, distracted nor injured.

Anyone with information about the crash was asked to call Detective Allen Duncan at 562-570-7355 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
