UPDATE | Authorities have identified a man fatally stabbed near the Traffic Circle Thursday morning in Long Beach.

Aaron Whatley, a 43-year-old Long Beach resident, was stabbed at the 4900 block of Ferro Court at 6:30AM, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).

He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition where he was later pronounced dead, officials stated.

A man allegedly responsible for stabbing Whatley remained at the scene and was detained by officers while they investigated the incident, according to officials.

The incident is being investigated by homicide detectives. No arrest has been made at this time.

12/8/16 at 10:26AM | A man was fatally stabbed Thursday morning in the city’s Circle Area neighborhood, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).

The stabbing happened at about 6:30AM on the 4900 block of Ferro Court, according to LBPD spokesman Sgt. Brad Johnson.

Responding officers found the victim with a stab wound to his upper torso, he said.

Long Beach paramedics transported him to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition before dying, Johnson said.

The man allegedly responsible for the stabbing remained at the scene. He has been detained by officers while they conduct their investigation, according to Johnson.

Police have yet to determine the relationship between the two men, Johnson said.
