A man was shot while retreiveing items from a parked sedan in Central Long Beach near Signal Hilll early Sunday morning, according to Long Beach police.
Just after 12:30 a.m., officers responded to the 1800 block of Cherry Avenue, near Pacific Coast Highway and found a man suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the upper body, police said.
Officers rendered aid to the man until the Long Beach Fire Department arrived and transported the victim at to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition, police said.
The victim said he was getting items from the parked sedan when he heard shots and realized he had been struck by a bullet, according to police.
Gang detectives responded to the scene, and officer found bullet casings and a parked, unoccupied vehicle that had also been struck by gunfire, police said.
Police are still investigating this shooting, and, at this time, they don’t have any suspect information or a motive for the shooting.
