A woman’s unborn child was killed when a wrong-way driver crashed into her SUV on the 710 Freeway early Thursday morning, according to the CHP. The wrong-way driver also died in the wreck, according to authorities.

The crash happened at high speed just south of the 405 Freeway around 3:45 a.m., according to authorities.

The CHP said a man was driving a white Dodge northbound on the southbound side of the 710 Freeway when he hit a 2016 GMC Acadia driven by a 29-year-old woman.

Medics rushed the woman to the hospital where she was treated for two broken legs; the other driver died at the scene, according to a CHP news release.

Authorities later found out the woman was pregnant and her child had died in the crash, CHP Officer Simeon Yarbrough said.

Officials haven’t yet released the identity of the deceased driver.
