A man was hospitalized for a stab wound Sunday afternoon following a confrontation in Bluff Park, authorities said.

The Long Beach Police Department responded to a report of a battery which was later determined to be a stabbing at approximately 4:17 p.m. Sunday afternoon near the 2800 block of East Ocean Boulevard, according to LBPD Officer Paige White.

There, officers found a man who had been stabbed in the foot, according to White and Long Beach Fire spokesman Jake Heflin.

Officers determined that the victim had been involved in a dispute with one or more suspects, who fled in a vehicle prior to officers’ arrival, according to White.

The LBFD transported the victim to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening wound, according to Heflin.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
