Mayor Robert Garcia on Monday announced plans to roll out a grant program benefiting businesses looted or vandalized across the city last Sunday after peaceful protesters demonstrated in Downtown Long Beach.

The Rebuild Long Beach grant program will be presented to the City Council during its June 16 meeting. During that discussion, officials will determine how to direct city resources to affected businesses.

“We are here for you, we will not forget you,” Garcia said. “We will help each and every single one of you rebuild your business.”

Any business that experienced small or large acts of vandalism and looting are allowed to apply for help. Business owners can reach out to the city to provide their information and be added to a list. They can do so by calling 562-570-4BIZ (4249) or emailing [email protected]. They can also reach out to their respective business improvement districts.

Long Beach police officials said they arrested 85 people for looting and vandalism that spread as far out to North Long Beach and Cambodia Town.
