A motorist who ran a red light in Alamitos Beach Tuesday afternoon caused a three-vehicle collision that left an SUV overturned, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).
Authorities said the driver of a 2015 Ford Mustang was traveling northbound on Orange Avenue when he ran a red light at 4th Street, striking a 2013 Toyota FJ Cruiser traveling eastbound on 4th Street on a green light, LBPD spokesman Brad Johnson said. The SUV flipped over when it hit and slid into a 2001 Chevy pick-up truck that was in the left hand turn lane on 4th Street, preparing to turn south onto Orange Avenue.
Officers were called to the scene at 12:30PM. Upon arrival, they shut down traffic on 4th Street in both directions, as well as traffic southbound on Orange Avenue.
No one was transported to the hospital though some complained of pain, Johnson said.
The driver of the Mustang was cited for running a red light.
The investigation remains ongoing.
