Long Beach health officials are offering about 500 COVID-19 vaccines to childcare and education workers without the need for an appointment today at the Convention Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

All faculty, including facilities and maintenance staff, at preschools, K-through-12, community colleges, universities, nannies, day camps, after-school programs, homeschooling programs and early childhood educators are eligible for today’s event.

Those interested must show proof of employment and proof that they live or work in Long Beach.

The doses will be administered on a first-come-first-served basis, according to the city’s health department. If the city runs out of the first 500 vaccines, city workers will help any eligible people left waiting in line to sign up for an appointment at a later date.

Local health officials recently began hosting similar no-appointment vaccinations on Thursday for seniors 65 years and older and on Friday for food workers.
