A Long Beach man was arrested on suspicion of multiple counts of sexual battery dating back to May 2021, and police said there may be additional victims.
Christoper Royal Starr, 33, was arrested by Long Beach police at his home in the 1600 block of E. 1st Street near Alamitos Beach on suspicion of three counts of sexual battery after detectives presented their findings to the city prosecutor’s office and secured a warrant, according to a statement by the Long Beach Police Department. Starr is being held at Long Beach City Jail on $100,000 bail, police said.
Police announced that Starr’s arrest comes after an extensive investigation into at least eight sexual battery incidents spanning from May 30, 2021, to the most recent incident on Sept. 24, 2021.
In September, police said these incidents generally happened to women who were walking alone between Alamitos Avenue east to Redondo Avenue and Ocean Boulevard north to Anaheim Street. Police said that victims reported that the suspect would jog up to the victim before allegedly committing sexual battery and then fleeing on foot. In at least one incident, he was riding an electric scooter.
Police said there is a possibility that there are more victims, and anyone with information should contact Detective William Neal, at 562-570-7368.
