Editor’s note: Police said Cheas was found unharmed around 8:30 p.m. Saturday in Long Beach. She has been reunited with her family.
The Long Beach Police Department is asking the public for help in locating a 76-year-old woman who went missing Saturday morning near St. Mary Medical Center.
Police said that Yay Cheas was last seen around 11:45 a.m. on March 12 while visiting family in the 1000 block of Olive Avenue. Police say Cheas walked out of sight in an unknown direction and disappeared. Her family immediately began looking for Cheas but were unable to locate her.
Cheas suffers from an intellectual disability and may become disoriented, police said.
Cheas is 4-foot-8-inches tall and weighs approximately 120 pounds. She has gray hair and brown eyes, according to a press release by the Long Beach Police Department. She was last seen wearing a light brown blazer jacket, black pants, a black French-style hat and pink tennis shoes, according to the LBPD.
