After a months-long closure, the Silverado Park pool in West Long Beach is now reopened, the Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine announced Tuesday morning.

The pool originally closed on Dec. 20 for regularly scheduled maintenance, but staff found issues with its filtration system, which merited a longer closure period. Usually, the pool closes annually for maintenance between December and January, according to the department.

Necessary parts to make the repairs were received in late February, which cost $6,500, department spokeswoman Jane Grobaty said in an email.

Now that the pool is back in action, open swim fees range from $1-$3, and memberships fees range from $25-$65, depending on ages, according to the pool webpage.

The pool is open at varying times for different swim activities:

  • Lap swimming on Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday
  • Water exercise classes on Monday, Wednesday and Sunday (Those ages 50 or older enter free with a Senior Fitness Pass.)
  • Swimming lessons on Saturdays

To safely open, a minimum of three to four staff are needed at one time, Grobaty said. One or two serve as guards depending on the pool program and the number of people.
