Westside’s Silverado Park Pool closed for repairs; reopening timeline unclear

Long Beach officials aren’t sure when they’ll be able to reopen the swimming pool at Silverado Park in West Long Beach after running into some unexpected problems during routine maintenance, according to the city’s Parks, Recreation and Marine Department.

The indoor swimming pool first closed on Dec. 20 for regularly scheduled annual maintenance, “and then we experienced issues with the pool filter system and are in the process of making repairs,” Parks, Recreation and Marine Department spokeswoman Jane Grobaty said in an email. Usually, the pool is only closed for two weeks between December and January for annual maintenance, she said.

It’s unclear when the pool will reopen as the city has to order a part for the system, and they don’t know when it’ll be delivered and installed, Grobaty said.

The department also does not know how much the repairs will cost at this time, but the department doesn’t anticipate the cost to be significant enough to prevent the reopening of the pool as soon as possible, Grobaty said.
