A man was fatally injured today when he was pinned between two trailers at an industrial transportation company on Terminal Island, authorities said.
The American Civil Liberties Union and other groups are suing the U.S. government over conditions at the federal prison at Terminal Island.
Only one other facility in the federal prison system has had more inmates die of the disease.
“I’m very concerned about what I saw in there,” Congresswoman Nanette Diaz Barragán said after a tour of Terminal Island prison.
he latest death announced by the Federal Bureau of Prisons was inmate Leonard Auerbach, 73, who had been hospitalized for chills, fever and other symptoms. Auerbach, who had preexisting medical conditions, was pronounced dead Thursday.
