Detectives are investigating the death of a 35-year-old man who was found with stab wounds Thursday morning near Anaheim Street and Long Beach Boulevard.
It’s not yet clear why the man was stabbed, but police say he was possibly involved in a fight or argument with a suspect or suspects who attacked him and then fled the scene during the early hours of Thursday morning.
Officers responded just before 4:40 a.m. to the scene of the crime in the 1300 block of Anaheim Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

That’s where the Long Beach Fire Department had found the man with multiple stab wounds to his upper body and declared him dead, police said.
The man’s identity was not immediately revealed as the Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office works to notify his relatives, police said.
The crime shut down Anaheim Street in both directions for some time at Long Beach Boulevard. But as of 8:30 a.m., only a single lane remained closed while detectives canvassed the scene.
At the scene, a shield typically used to block a body from public view could be seen in the Alamo Court alley off Anaheim Street.
Evidence markers were also placed around the neighboring parking lot of the Kim Long Market. A trail of blood that appeared to stretch from the building across the street to the body was also visible.
