Artists were encouraged to highlight Long Beach’s diversity, the city’s airport and its aviation history. LGB was founded in 1923 and is the oldest airport in California.
The airport is now accepting submissions until March 31, and 10 contest winners will also earn $500 honorariums, according to the airport. The contest is open to local artists of all ages and skill levels. Winners will be announced by May 2022.
“We are asking artists to portray and aspect of Long Beach that is important to them.”
A dozen Long Beach-based teens took to their sketchbooks or computers to create artwork aimed to strike a chord with the public on vaccinations, especially for other young people.
