Long Beach officials announced there will be no curfew today. The announcement comes after four days of curfews.

The decision is in line with Los Angeles County, which declared Thursday morning there would be no countywide curfew.

Over the weekend, curfews were announced in cities countywide as large-scale protests saw thousands marching throughout the Southland. In some areas, peaceful protests became overshadowed by looting, vandalism and the destruction of property, including the burning down of Men’s Suit Outlet in Downtown Long Beach. In response, the city requested help from the National Guard.

Since Sunday night, the city has not reported incidents of looting or vandalism. Two peaceful protests took place Wednesday, drawing hundreds to East Long Beach and Downtown. Over 100 protesters marched on City Hall, where Mayor Robert Garcia addressed the crowd and answered questions.

More protests are expected this week, including a sit-in at City Hall Thursday afternoon and a gathering at Long Beach City College Friday.
