Strong winds rattled windows, severed tree branches and downed power lines throughout Long Beach on Sunday.

A wind advisory will stay in effect until 9 p.m., Sunday evening, with winds as high as 30 mph in Long Beach, according to the National Weather Service.

Electrical wires violently rippled in the wind. From 10:30 a.m. until 5 p.m., there were nearly 50 calls to the Long Beach Fire Department with reports of downed wires, according to PulsePoint entries, an emergency alert app.

Sounds of falling branches and pummeled metal street signs were heard throughout the city, with chunks of vegetation debris scattered across roads and sidewalks.
