The traffic collision occurred around 1:51 a.m. along Pacific Coast Highway and Santiago Avenue, an area next to Recreation Park, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and carrying a concealed firearm, police said.
A release from the Long Beach Police Department said that the man was standing in the roadway near 5th Street and Pine Avenue around 7 a.m. Sunday when he was struck by a Ford F-250.
A man died at a local hospital after being struck by a vehicle Saturday morning at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Cherry Avenue.
The man was identified as 55-year-old Robert O’Brien of Long Beach, according to the coroner’s office.
Police don’t know why the man stepped into the roadway.
The crash killed a pedestrian near the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and 67th Street just before 10:30 p.m., police said.
