The hit-and-run crash was reported at about 6:25 p.m. Thursday on Pacific Coast Highway at Cherry, according to Long Beach police Lt. Michael Deprete.
The 75-member training class included recruits from the sheriff’s department and various other law enforcement agencies, and those who were injured included two each from the Bell and Glendale police departments and one from the Pasadena Police Department. The rest were all sheriff’s department trainees.
Authorities said the SUV hit a tree around 4 a.m. near Pacific Coast Highway and Seal Beach Boulevard. The damage was extensive.
Police said the driver of the SUV and the train were both headed southbound when the driver of the SUV attempted to make a left turn onto Third Street and struck the train.
A big rig on its side was jamming traffic on the southbound 710 Freeway this morning in Long Beach.
Witnesses reported seeing two vehicles collide head-on near Alondra Boulevard, according to the CHP.
The crash occurred just after 7 a.m. on southbound Lakewood Boulevard near Conant Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The crash occurred around 3:25 p.m. in the 1500 block of Long Beach Boulevard.
When Long Beach Fire personnel arrived at the scene sometime before midnight, they witnessed multiple vehicles involved in the crash, including one car that had overturned.
The crash occurred sometime around 10:46 a.m., just before the Willow Street exit.
