A motorcycle rider was killed this morning in a crash involving two other vehicles, including one that was left overturned on the northbound 605 Freeway in Norwalk.
A 26-year-old Long Beach man was killed when his car was broadsided near Poly High School Tuesday morning, according to police.
Police said the officer was slowing down in her marked car to check on a vehicle that appeared to be illegally parked near Obispo Avenue when a black Chevrolet SUV hit her, sending her vehicle spinning onto the sidewalk.
Rescuers had to use the Jaws of Life to free two of the victims from the wreckage, Long Beach Fire Department spokesman Brian Fisk said.
The 21-year-old’s name was withheld pending notification of his family.
Police said Tuesday that the two women were in a crosswalk when the 70-year-old was struck by a car driven by a woman, who stopped at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
Authorities said the vehicles collided at Termino Avenue and 7th Street at about 10:30 a.m., leaving one vehicle overturned.
A two-car crash sent a light pole toppling into the lanes of Pacific Coast Highway Monday afternoon, but it didn’t appear anyone was seriously hurt.
His Ford truck left the roadway on Angeles Forest Highway and traveled down a dirt embankment before crashing into a mountainside, the CHP said.
The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. when the driver went through the light at Second Street and Park Avenue, Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman Shaunna Dandoy said.
