The crash occurred about 1 a.m. at the transition to the northbound 405 Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At least six people are being assessed for injuries along with multiple pets, Long Beach Fire Department Cpt. Jack Crabtree said.

Police released photos of the pickup truck they say hit and dragged a woman at Fourth Street and The Promenade before the driver fled.
After fatally hitting the woman at Fourth Street and The Promenade, the driver of a red pickup truck fled the scene, police said.
Paramedics rushed one man, who is in his 80s, to a local hospital, an LBFD spokesman said.
