Port of Long Beach and city officials officially opened a new bike and pedestrian path Sunday morning, making it the first bike path at the port, officials said.

Traveling past the Queen Mary along Harbor Scenic Drive, the South Waterfront-Pier J Bike and Pedestrian Path extends through the Queen Mary area and into the port complex. The path includes new bike lane markings, informational signs, two observation decks and bathroom facilities, providing the community a new way to access the port by bicycle and on foot, officials said.

Funding for the $18.2 million project was provided by LA Metro, the California Transportation Commission, Caltrans and the Port of Long Beach.
