Police and the Long Beach fire department responded to the area at about 8:42 a.m. this morning regarding a report of a dead body, said Long Beach police spokesperson Brandon Fahey.
“Homicide detectives were called to the scene due to the suspicious location of the body and lack of explanation for her death,” police said in a statement. “As a result of their investigation, detectives are investigating the incident as a murder.”
The woman was found at around 9:15 a.m. on the sidewalk in front of L’Opera on Pine Avenue, authorities said.
Police said they currently don’t believe any foul play caused the man’s death.
Authorities received a call just before 2 p.m. from a person on a small fishing boat who discovered the body in the water just south of Island Freeman.
The body matches the description of a person missing out of Orange County, Long Beach Fire Department spokesman Jack Crabtree said.
Homicide detectives are investigating a man’s death after his body was found Saturday night in an RV parked on a North Long Beach street.
The body was discovered by a recreational boater who stayed with the body until Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded with police at about 3:52 p.m.
There was no immediate information on the gender of the person or whether foul play was involved in the death.
