Long Beach police on Tuesday said they’ve identified a second victim in the case of a music teacher facing sexual abuse allegations.
Police said one driver fled the checkpoint, but officers found the vehicle and identified the driver. Police then recovered a handgun and narcotics inside the vehicle.
A police pursuit in the Downtown Long Beach area Monday night ended with the vehicle crashing into a parking structure, police said.
The Long Beach Police Department announced it’s partnering with the Trauma Intervention Program in a search for volunteers who can help people recover in the aftermath of traumatic events such as traffic accidents, crimes or deaths of family members.
The disagreement escalated, and the suspect stabbed the man in the upper body with non-life-threatening wounds, police said.
A man in a wheelchair who was fatally struck by a suspected drunk driver more than a week ago has been identified by authorities as Mitchell Morales, 59, who died from his injuries at Stearns Street and Radnor Avenue in the Los Altos neighborhood of Long Beach.
Colette Flores Whiteway was located Tuesday in the city of Montebello by her family, a statement from Long Beach police said.
No injuries were reported, police said.
Police said speed may have been a factor in the crash, but it is not believed that driving under the influence nor distracted driving played a role.
