Samuel Juarez Rivera, 71, died in the hospital on Sunday, Nov. 13 after he was hit by a car while riding his bike near Anaheim Street and Walnut Avenue around 6:22 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, police said.
A man died after being hit by a car while running across lanes of traffic on Pacific Coast Highway Thursday evening, police said.
Police said the victim was crossing Pacific Coast Highway near Temple Avenue when the driver of a black Chevrolet SUV struck him and kept driving.
Police said the collision happened just before midnight at the intersection of Studebaker Road and Spring Street.
The motorcyclist was driving southbound on Atlantic Avenue, approaching 19th Street, when the driver of a 2014 Toyota Tundra pulled out in front of him, intending to make a left turn.
Police said the single-car crash happened around 7 p.m. Sunday.
The driver stopped and immediately tried to help the woman he’d hit as she crossed PCH outside of a crosswalk, police said.
“All I could do was hold him in my arms and tell him, ‘My baby, my baby,'” the boy’s father, Francisco Garate said Wednesday.
Police said the father and son were in a crosswalk with the right-of-way when the driver of a pickup truck failed to yield.
Bystanders at the scene rendered aid to the man before police and Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived to take over, the LBPD said.
